Re: 52

Well, kids, it's over. One of the most ridiculous years ever in the DCU and most of us survived it. I'm kind of sad to see it end, although I really liked this issue; the Booster Gold/Rip Hunter battle against Mr. Mind ruled, Dead Ralph And Sue were nice to see, and the little Earth-4 Vic cameo was neat. Hope there's some more Charlton shenanigans to come.

Thoughts?

HE'S ALIVE!!

Yeah, that was pretty much all I could say after finishing the issue. Honestly, that one panel made me ridiculously happy.

Re: 52

Only on a technicality. That's a seperate Vic Sage on a seperate Earth three Earths away. Who knows if he's even remotely the same?

Re: 52
All I know is that a Vic Sage is still alive, meaning maybe we forget about the Montoya Question and focus on this one. I really hope they do some spotlighting on this Earth, I also think we should do some sort of dance or something, like have a rebirth banner for the site.
Re: 52

Have you been reading the 52 Exit Interviews at newsarama? Geoff Johns, Mark Waid, Keith Giffen... they ALL mention Vic's death as one of their favourite moments in the series.
Me, I just think it was the only real mistake of 52. Although if it was just a grand plan to bring back the Randian Question of Earth 4, just so that JLU fans can relate more to him... maybe it will work...

Re: 52

Yes I have and I know that the Question that been the question since 1980 something is dead but we got this Question that's alive and not Montoya, so yeah I'm frickin excited. Personally I'm starting to enjoy The DC universe as a whole, it's great.

Re: 52

So it appears Renee used the pseudo-derm mask to bandage up Batwoman before dropping her off to the hospital.  But what was the deal with pseudo-derm being dangerous on open wounds?  Is it just long term exposure or could Batwoman be in trouble?

"Only on open wounds, and even then only sometimes."

I would have felt a lot better about Vic's death if it weren't for the fact that we didn't know he actually died in that issue because a scene similar to that happened in, like, 3 issues in a row.

Re: 52

Yeah, I HATED that. Seriously, why didn't he just die at the end of the New Year's Eve issue? Why drag him all the way back to Nanda Parbat?

Re: 52

Agreed, Vic's death was ridiculously drawn-out. The Diary of Ralph Dibny "this will be my last transmission" thing satirized it so accurately.

Re: 52

The Diary Of Ralph Dibny helped me get through 52, frankly. Massive kudos to whoever wrote that.

...and nobody say "it was Ralph Dibny who wrote it!". Wiseacres.

Re: 52

I have to disagree here... though I hate the idea of Vic dying, for me Week 38 was quite a memorable issue. It wouldn't have been the same if he had just died in the hospital bed.

Well since my internet was down I'm going to be completely selfish and break the flow of conversation by saying...

"Are you ready?"

Re: 52

Hey, you know, even though I haven't read Week 52 yet, I think I've figured out the meaning of Animal Man's story!
The yellow aliens were Grant Morrison. Buddy dies in the course of the story, but his writer doesn't want to end it that way. So, in the form of the aliens, who have no relation to the plot whatsoever, he resurrects him and gives him the means to come home. Awww!

Re: 52

Anybody pick up the first trade for 52?

The issue by issue commentary has a few interesting tid-bits, including an alternate line by Q to Montoya teasing her about how she could have made her awkward encounter with Kate Kane even more so if she announced that she faked all her orgasams http://www.mazeguy.net/surprised/wide-eyed.gif

wonder why that got cut? http://www.mazeguy.net/expressive/scratchchin.gif
