Trying to get motivated!

Okay, so I was working on a few things for the contest and it honestly never occurred to me to do something sequential until I saw this section of the creative board and 'lo I started something.

The problem I've run into is that after I do a little continuous sketching I get frustrated and I end up abandoning things and never getting back to them, which only speaks to my whimsical dedication to drawing. I suck.

Anyway, I don't WANT to abandon this piece and I started thinking if I did something that would make me HAVE to finish it, like posting here, I might be a little more inclined to finish it up.

So here are two thumbnail sketches as a preview:

Now, your job, if you think it looks interesting enough to continue, is to bug me to death until I finish it! Right now I just have a script and half a dozen thumbnails. After I finish the thumbnails I'll print them, blow them up, draw them with more detail, scan the bigger sketches, clean them up and ink them in illustrator, and then color them in Photoshop. So plenty of work in front of me.

If you can tell from the above, it's going to be a JLU themey/style and to give you an idea of the plot- not that this is going to be pages and pages, mind you- Post 'Fearful Symmetry' and Pre 'Double Date'.  So, I hereby commit myself to finish this. Have at me.

Re: Trying to get motivated!

I completely know the feeling of needing motivation or the project becomes abandoned....Writting wise, I have two unfinished novels, and more unfinished scripts than I care to mention....but I can tell you, once you get an audience (Thank the internet for that), your motivation goes through the roof.

I am extremely proud of Murder in Gotham, and that feeling plus the reception it got really got me going on working on another.  The positive experiances I've had here has led it to be the Question serial which I'm working on now, and am 100% committed to not only completing it, but making it the best that I possibly can.

I am also extremely please that you have been inspired by this section of this site...I had a part in it being here so I'm glad to see it start to grow.

So please please please do continue you work.  You will have fans here.

I'm also proud to announce that this is my 100 post here in the forums...can't wait to see where the count is a year from now.

Re: Trying to get motivated!

I really like what you have so far. Your style to me looks somewhere between Bruce Timm and traditonal manga (mostly in Wally's facial expressions, and I mean that in a good way). I'm really impressed.

Although, to be honest, it kinda looks like Q? is rocking a Mr. Rogers sweater.  lol

Re: Trying to get motivated!

The coloring should fix this, and these are just thumbnails, a lot of times things look completely different when I go to pencils- if I do pencils- and then even further different when I throw everything into Illustrator. I haven't gotten very good at translating what I like about my pencils back into digital format. Which is where part of the frustration comes in.

My frustration comes from not being able to draw. Count your blessings!  lol
