Re: Question Custom Figures

Not Q related...

...or do I have something in the planning stages (a-la-Murder in Gotham) That would make this particular custom relevant to the Question??? wink

Re: Question Custom Figures

It's a great figure, but you know that J. Geils Band song "Centerfold"? That's kinda how I feel about it.

Re: Question Custom Figures

I've been working...

first up is an experiment;
I was trying for a photographic equal to the Edwards fx of "walking in two worlds"...I'm not too sure about how it turned out.  I don't think I would be thrilled reading a photo story that used this too often:

http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/118/questionexperimentnt6.th.jpg

Thoughts?  suggestions?

Secondly, I'm working on another Question custom.  So far he is only Vic Sage, since I don't have a hat/mask for him yet and I'm thinking of getting him gloved hands.  This version uses the Commish Gordon body which I HIGHLY recommend over using a John Constanine figure.  This is a very simple head swap.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d68/j3h/DC%20Direct/vicsage1.jpg

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d68/j3h/DC%20Direct/vicsage2.jpg

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d68/j3h/DC%20Direct/vicsage3.jpg

Thirdly....why am I doing this?
yeah....there is going to be a follow up to Murder in Gotham which is going to star The Question.   It's a bit of the ways off yet since I don't have a script nailed down (but I kinda have a story idea), nor a set (but I have a pretty cool one in  mind and started collecting "props"), or whatever other custom work that might need to be done (I'm thinking it won't start till first quarter 2007)

As far as how I'm going to write Q... In MiG, I used kinda a mash-up of the JLU Q with the Veitch version.  I've since read the entire O'Neil run (execpt for the 5 quarterlies)...I'm thinking of still using the hybrid version with now adding in some O'Neil traits.  The story I am planning is again psychological (since making action figures fight comes out looking silly IMO), which is why I'm experimenting with the fx above.

Re: Question Custom Figures

Your 'walk in two worlds' effect looks really good, that's kind of how I envisioned it looking in my video game proposal.

And I dig that new Vic Sage figure, although truth be told it looks kinda...sinister. Maybe it's the look on Vic's face combined with his suddenly larger physical stature (is Gordon supposed to be that much bigger?), but it's very imposing. In a cool way.

The Gordon figure is definately bigger (Taller) than the hellblazer figure, and he doesn't have slouching shoulders.  His shirt is a little more billowy, but I don't think he is more muscular or bulky.  He definately looks like a more authoritative reporter.  I think some of the Sinsiter is the lighting that I favor.

Re: Question Custom Figures

This thread inspired me, actually. I just snagged a Mattel Two-Face from a Big Lots by my dad's house (it's in a two-pack with a goofy Batman figure that looks more like Sark from Tron) and I'll be embarking on this soon. Next up is probably Blue Beetle if I can snag that Mirrormaster from Toys R Us soon, and then I'd like to try a Captain Atom.

I think I see a dyed Gambit trench coat, but i could be wrong...
The second one looks to be a hellblazer base...

Re: Question Custom Figures

The first one is an 9" DC Superhero Aquaman figure.
The pants came from an Angel figure. The coat from a Humprey Bogart figure. & the shoe were from a Ken doll.

The second one is just a Hellblazer figure.

The last one is a Super Friends GL figure. The coat is a dyed Gambit coat, & the pants were from a Peter Parker figure.

wow...very creative use of parts, especially that last one....other than Gambit's coat, I couldn't indentify any of those!

Re: Question Custom Figures

I really really like that last one. With a fedora he'd be right out of Cry for Blood.

Re: Question Custom Figures

I got the idea from the epiloge to Cry for Blood story in Batman Chronicles #15

It was written by Greg Rucka & drawn by Roger Cruz

Excellent short story.

Excellent short story.

I thought that story took place before Cry for blood...it was published 2 years before CfB

Either way, it's still a good custom figure smile

Re: Question Custom Figures

Hey j3h-thats a great recipe for an animated Question figure. I'm really tempted to try it,as I've been trying to make a custom Q for a few years now. My problem is....I have no skill when it comes to detail work. A grizzly bear would probably have a more delicate touch than I do,but I think you've tempted me into giving it another shot...
